Video playback options

I am having trouble with TVersity. I have had some success, though the quality seems poor. However, a film I want to watch does not work with Tversity. It either plays no sound, or causes Tversity to hang. I have converted the avi to many different formats and either Tversity does not play the file, or it has no sound. When I watch on my PC it is fine.

So I have decided to try something else. I was thinking of burning the file to disk and playing it from my 360, but not sure if this will work.

Does this work? If so what format is supported and what is best to play? I can convert the avi to lots of formats.

Thanks.
