OK, first time on this forum, so hope someone can help.

We bought a panasonic SCHT990 home cinema kit today to go with the panasonic plasma screen, the problem we are having is when playing back movies from "DVD-R", we are getting odd video glitches in the form of green blocks here and there at random, each disc we have tried has given different results, for an individual disc the glitches appear at/around the same point each time it is played.

I've re-burnt some of the discs for which I have the source at a slow speed, the glitches are still present but not consistent. They are top quality discs.

When the discs are played in the old £30 Sharp dvd player no glitches are apparant.

Also played a few original DVD's and with these there were no problems, it only appears to happen with our home-compiled DVD-R's.

Does this sound like a player problem?

Also, it seems like we need to have the volume level up to around half way to get a reasonable output which also seems strange?

    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Chris
