I bought a 2nd hand vibe beta at xmas.

    it is big, and heavy.
    seems well built.

as for the sound. I've not really been able to get it set up right . sometimes comes across a bit boomy.
The latest place I have it seems fine though, so will play with avia to get it right.

if you can get it fairly cheap, ie cheaper than a rel, give it a go. spend a week setting it up, and then return it if you still can't get on with it.

in my view, they are a well built, interesting and powerful alternative to the rels of this world.

actually, a cheap rel 150 would be a good choice.
but I suggest that vibe might be better than a B&W or kef alternative sub.

The new vibe alpha costs £300 and is in a small cabinet around a foot high and wide, this was reveived recently by What hifi (maybe the latest issue or the last on) and was given 2 stars.

The older vibe alpha now called the vibe alpha 2 is reviewed on this site.

    Hope this helps
