I have received some old (purchased 1991) Sony Video8 tapes that I would like digitized. Everything's setup on my pc to do so, but the VHS-C adapter I purchased recently doesn't work w/these tapes. The camera that shot the video is in less than optimal working order, so direct interface to that device isn't possible. Is there anybody out there who knows where I can get a VHS adapter for this type of tape? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,

I know i'm only a camcorder newbie, but what I DO know is that there is no such thing. The tape format is different and the tape is a different width. The only reason the VHS-C convertors work is because the tape is the same width and format, just packaged in a smaller housing. The convertor 'enlarges' the housing so to speak.

You will need a seperate player to play your tapes.

Makes a change from asking about Beta to vhs adaptors!

Of course they don't exist - but try a V8 vcr!

Thanks to both! I'll try finding a VCR for them.

    This is a 7 year old thread:rolleyes:
If you have video 8 tapes and have a query, just opn a new thread
V8 VCr as costly and posible impossible to get.. just get an old V8 camcorder , ebay cash converters ect )and a few leads to connect to VHS or better still DVD recorder ( this is 2009) VHS is dead and buried
