Hi Folks,
apologies if i've posted in the wrong place, this is my first post!
I've got a HP Pavilion desktop pc A6421.uk with a with a w2007v monior.
it is running windows vista home edition as was pre-installed when purchased. i guess the units about 5 years old now so in computing terms its probably had its shelf life but its not had a hard life so id like it to last a bit longer!
for the last week ive been having problems when start up saying no vga input signal...........monitor going to sleep. switching on and off has been kick starting it however now when i desperately need to use it, nothing i do will get it to work.
ive disconnected it completely, held down the button to remove any static discharge, reconnected it all and its still the same. the fans kick in and it sounds like the tower is starting up but there is till no vga input and the monitor just goes to sleep.
i bought a new graphics card yesterday after doing a bit of research in the hope that would be the simple fix. my pc was full of dust so i cleaned it all out took the old graphics card with me. the techy said the fan sounded ok but i bought a new one fitted it and the monitor is doing the same.... flashing up with no signal input then goes to sleep. i tried opening up the menu on the screen but as soon as i powered it up it instantly goes to sleep so i cant even access that.
Theres a driver software installation disk that came with the new card but i cant even download the software that comes with it as i cant see the screen, could this be essential for iyt to work or should the screen boot up automatically and request installation software?
but maybe the card isnt even the problem
everything on the tower seems to be powering up ok, i tried linking my netbook to see if the tower is working ok but wasnt really too sure what i was doing so didnt wanna mess that up too. i guess the next option is to either buy a new lead or try hook it up to a tv but i dont know how to do that, with what cables etc.
any ideas would be gratefully received!
thanks in advance
