very poorly JVC DRM10

hi there. Have a JVC DRM10. Just moved and decided to set it up. Plugged it in, connected scart and aerial leads etc and I got was just snow. Even with a pre-recorded DVD in.

Any ideas? It had an 'issue' with some dvd-ram discs earlier in the year where it refused to play them but I can't see how this is connected to my current problem

Now past the 12 month warranty period
