I have recently installed a Freeview box (Sony) and its great. All the BBC stations are fine and clear but all the ITV ones are received poorly.
I think it is the ones on Mux2. Some radio stations are also poor.

The freeview postcode checker says my area (Battersea) should have perfect reception.

There is a 5m arial cable that goes from the Sony freeview box to the wall socket but it doesn't go near any other wiring or power points.

I live in a block of flats about a year old and the building is supposed to support digital TV and Sky.

What can I do to improve the signal???

Do you really need a 5 metre run of cable between the freeview box and the aerial socket? If you don't need the cable to be that long, buy a new digital quality flylead of the shortest length possible.

My girlfriend (in Barnes) had exactly the same problem as you describe, now almost completely sorted by a new 0.75m cable (still the occasional blip on Mx 2 though).

I do need the 5m cable as the arial wall socket is that far from the TV.
Where can I get a digital quality flylead? I was already looking for one of these but I couldn't really find one.

It may be that your arial on the roof might not be up for the job. I can recive the bbc channels reallly well, but will need an areial upgrade to get the rest.

Don't laugh, but we got ours from Homebase. In a nice shade of purple as well!!! :smashin:

The other place I've seen them is Maplin, but they were VERY expensive.

Apparently it's always the ITV channels & channel 4 & 5 that are the first to go if the reception is duff.

lol. You often find that channels at the top of the spectrum will have problems, or channels with lower power on the transmitter.

I live in a block of flats so I can't change the aerial.

I will try the purple flylead from Homebase that JohnW14 recommended since there is a HomeBase next door to my flat.

Just to let you know, the reception has improved a lot without me doing anything. Some occaisional pixillation but not as much as it was.

Still might get that flylead from Homebase though.
