Hi, I am running Win XP Home Edition.

Every time either me, my mum or my sister logs onto our account, a folder pops up. The location is:

    C:/Documents/

However, the only sub-folder within this is "Suzanne" (my sisters log in name). And the sub-folders within that, which are both empty, are "Incomplete" and "Empty".

It is really annoying, having to close this folder every time I log on! I don't think I have changed any settings which would make it do this.

Any ideas why it would do this, and how to stop it?

    Cheers.

Is there anything in the Startup menu, pointing to that folder?

Have a look in Start-> All Programs-> Startup

    HTH.

Sorry sbowler, I wasn't very clear about what the problem was. Attached is a screen shot of what appears when I log on.

MRW, if I go to startup there is an arrow, and then a box which says "(Empty)". I can't click on it.

McFarfs, can you right click above that item in Startup and select properties?

If the properties of that show as a shorcut to that location, you know that's the issue.

Make sure there is nothing opening that folder in the following locations:-
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Where username is the account name where the problem is occuring. Note that there will be valid items in these 2 folders so only get rid of any that refer to c:\documents\

It's a registry entry causing this, and you can stop it, but i forget how. But a quick search on M$'s website should show you the way!

Mrtbag, I can right click and select properties, but it doesn't seem to show anything leading to that folder, or the problem.

    JohnG, if I go to:

    C:\Documents and Settings\suzanne\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

it pops up with the same folder as when I log on.

Strangely, I forgot ro replace username with suzanne at first, and it still popped up with the same folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup came up with and empty folder.

mjn, I can't really search microsoft because I don't know what I am searching for!

If you haven't already done so, get Adaware and Spybot (both free) and run them to see if there are any spyware type programs running. Also Hijackthis is good but a little more involved to sort things out.
