vertical banding and rainbows

    That's interesting. Basically one AE700 can have vertical banding whilst another doesn't, due to the non-uniform results in the LCD manufacturing process. So when one person says that they've got VB on their machine but another says he hasn't on the same machine, there's a chance it could be because of this. The article said the newer 700 had much less/no VB than an older 700; it might be also worth asking people what date they got their PJ if they have problems/ dont have problems with the machine they report about.

    I thought it was the thin cotton-like strands that you sometimes see on light background panning shots?

    I think they're saying they are 1" apart, although admitedly it doesn't come across like that.
