Velodyne DD-12 Sub & TMREQ

I am thinking of putting a new sub into my setup and am looking at the Velodyne DD-12. Does anybody have experience of the velodyne room eq vs TMREQ? Should I be disabling room eq on the sub channel and using the velodyne eq or vice versa?

Hi Phil

i use both. First reduce the biggest peaks with DD-EQ, fine tune it with TMREQ.

On the pics you can see the DD + TMREQ settings + graph

A very intesting and helpful post! I'm taking delivery of a pair of DD15s next week, so I'll follow this advice.:smashin:

Hi maybe a little late but nonetheless.

I traded my Miller&Kreissel MK350 for a DD12.
I went totally different then Daniel.

I switched off TMREQ for the sub and only use the DD12.
TMREQ is only used for multi channel and on L, R, C and rear and surrounds.

For 2 channel I use the by pass and the sub is off (I play mostly vinyl in 2 channel).

I found that the DD12 software is far more easier to use and tune then TMREQ and does a better job (My opinion following my experience!)

I did not get the M&K sub right with TMREQ untill my dealer demo-ed a DD10.

TMREQ is also only used to handle the big peak problems. I never let it run automated since it kill musicality Again my opinion!

Just my five cents.

What is it about the Velodyne sub that you prefer over the M&K sub?

Hi Joel,

The M&K was great but my room was simply too small. It made the M&K very boomy and too much present, it simply needed much more breathing space then my room could offer. And either by TMREQing you cut it's throath or it was all over you, I never found the right adjustment using TMREQ. It was killed or it was overkill, if you know what I mean.
The Velodyne is a much better fit. It seems more 'eloquent' then the M&K.

I hope this clarifies some.

Rgds Hans.
