Just after some pictures of it. The Velodyne website is a bit lacking. Only saw one pic in a search on this site.

Just need to see it to get an idea of its scale etc.

I've read lots of people's views on it (searching produces loads of Velodyne threads.). Like the idea of it. Just need any links to pics and/or independent reviews of it online. So far only have the HCC CHT 12 and Home Theater HiFi reviews.

    Cheers.

    Hi,
Been looking for the same type of info for some weeks now and not managed to find anything! No reviews or decent pictures anywhere.

However, after a session in uncle eric's batcave and reading the comments from others here, decided to take the plunge. All being well should be in place this time tomorrow, M25 trafic permitting.

The CHT 15 is big and someone else who lives here has no idea what's coming to her front room.... she thought the Pro50 made some noise!

If you want, I'll drop you a pm or update this thread with my personal opinion after the weekend and possibly a decent pic or two.

    Rgds

Thanks for the photos Bry. Certainly has the tank like dimensions.:D

I'd appreciate anything you have to say on it Paul. Post here for all to see.

Seeing it in scale with other objects, it looks more imposing. Nice.:smashin:

Never realised that the CHT-15 has the exact same binding posts and phono jacks as the HGS range, also never realised just what a nice looking sub it is.

Dont Bry's Dynaudio BM6A's look rather dashing too...

Dynaudio studio monitors often get overlooked, but they are really capable units..(BM5's, BM6-BM6A's, BM15-BM15A's)

Their MA-1's are superb, as are their new AIR systems.

    Adzman......

    Guy,
I got your PM, I cant seem to find it either. It might be in the power buy thread on the cht15.

Anyway, mine replced two rel storms and it does the job really well, especially the music performance is brilliant. Russraff also came over to mine for a demo and was well impressed by it.
do a search on Servo15 and you will find russells view on the cht15 demo.

    Hi,
As promised personal views on CHT 15 after 5 days as suggested by the General.

I was initially surprised by the lack of presence, acoustically not physically. This was related to poor adjustment / set-up on my part rather than the subs performance. It takes time to get it set correctly (my thanks to eric for pointers in the right direction) plus a decent period burning in (which is a tad slow as someone does't like the house shaking). Now in the process of fine tuning courtesy of the AVIA DVD.

The sound performance is quietly understated is the only way I can describe it. It blends so effortlessly with music CDs, not dominating the reproduction as I had half expected, but when called upon to deliver LFE on films it's awesome.

Hope this helps though not as technical review as some just a punters observations!

    Rgds

p.s. anyone know of a wife friendly way to get rid of room resonance at 40Hz? Never heard or experienced it until very recently.:D

It may not be technical but the above quote says as much as is necessary. I'm beginning to be seriously tempted and as Eric knows, I am quite happy with what I have and there are a million other things that I would rather spend my money on than another subwoofer.

Can anyone send me pictures of the two finishes for the CHT-15? (Silver/Black)

PM me and I'll give me email address.

I've got pics of the HGS.

    Thanks

Well, for those that are interested, I shall regurgitate my thoughts on the CHT15. Firstly its bloody huge! Can’t imagine it in silver though, wouldn’t it be a bit gaudy? It certainly felt more impressive than my old Storm III and Servo 15, though the Servo does come kind of close. I agree with what paulfd and Phil said about the effect it has on stereo material; I was really surprised it wasn't over-powering considering its size, which is where the Servo 15 falls down IMO. Phil let me listen to a classical piece which really showed how subtle the CHT15 could be (after I had turned the crossover setting down ;) ) working with his M&K satellites. If you have £700 to spend on a sub, then there is nothing better out there. So there!

    Hi All

When the grills on the sub is it supportive enough to stop tiny little fingers from poking at the cone!?! This is a fairly serious question.

    Thanks.

    Yes.

It's a plastic grid covered with the fabric, almost certainly finger-proof.

I've just joined the club and I'd like to know how to run the thing in!

Is there anywhere I can download a CD image of test tracks? If I find something how high do I set the volume?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, the grill is a substantial affair with a perforated plastic panel behind the cloth.
Eric being the purist that he is, demos his HGS-18 with the grill off, but I can't believe it makes that much difference with such large wavelengths!
