Wondering if these two subs are in a similar price range, how well do they compare to each other? Primary AV .1 LFE subwoofer... owner's comments?

    Thanks

I seem to remember that we'd been here before and couldn't find anyone that had heard them both. Still didn't stop the relevant owners lining up to take pop shots at each other though

I'll take a wild stab and say the Servo 15 goes lower and louder but the CHT-15 is more accurate..............based on non-biased reports.

If that doesn't rouse the rabble nothing will

So would you say the Servo 15 is a better movie sub?

by 'movie sub' do you mean inaccurate with lots of distortion?:D Surely its as important for movies to be reproduced accurately as it is for music.

    I want house-destroying levels, and around 120dB.

Anything out that can do that? :D

    I'd imagine Eric's quad-velodyne set-up would do you fine!

Owners of the respective subs often give clues away, CHT-15 users always comment on it's great musical ability. Servo 15 owners sometimes mention their dissapointment with musicality (could be a lack of the X30 though I suspect). However it is fact that the Servo 15 can go lower and louder, certainly flat below 20Hz which the CHT-15 cannot do.

I'm not silly enough to say which is better or which is more accurate, it's only what I've gleaned from owners. If I had to choose one I'd go with the Servo 15 but it's certainly not an easy decision and it's not based on actual demos, only views/opinions.

I somehow suspect I'll get my head bitten off from both camps now, the phrase "let sleeping dogs lie" comes to mind  :suicide:

Pity RS is naff at getting the Servo 15 in stock though.

Is the Servo available in different real wood veneers? - would like red cherry or rosewood.

    Nathan, :hiya:

Goto www.richersounds.com pick up either a pen or open notepad on your pc.

If you have picked up a pen, find a piece of paper I find writing on the monitor usually doesn't work very well so trust me with the paper ;) write down their phone number.

If you have used the "notepad" option then type or alternatively cut n paste their number into notepad.

Once you have done one of the above give em a call

If they are useless you could.... try looking up the details for individual shops and see if any in your area have any maybe demo ones etc....

If all else fails or even without all else failing you could put a wanted advert up in the buying and selling section.

    Steff

Edit: Now i'm running off to hide. By the way I hope this is the sort of help you mean you needed when you said "what do I do now?" :smashin:

    If not ooops

Seriously though, Richer Sounds are rubbish. I'm not waiting 10 months for it to arrive.

I can't find Richer Sounds email address either.

Eric, what material is the CHT-15 and HGS-15/18 cone surrounds made out of? I know foam is used (cheaper than rubber), but eventually it deteriorates (my rear bass driver has foam bass surround) I know the surround can be replaced quite easily though

    Thanks

    Nathan,
You'll find that if you buy one, the Velodyne will explode just after the last day of it's 3 year warranty

I believe it's not foam but some sort of composite rubber. I'll check this out with Velodyne.
