13-episode female-led Van Helsing series to debut in 2016.

Neil LaBute serves as writer/showrunner on the drama.

Van Helsing, which begins production in January 2016 in Vancouver, BC centers on Vanessa Helsing, the daughter of famous vampire hunter and Dracula nemesis Abraham Van Helsing. She is resurrected five years in the future to find out that vampires have taken over the world and that she possesses unique power over them. She is humanity’s last hope to lead an offensive to take back what has been lost.

Chad Oakes, Co-Chairman of Calgary-based Nomadic Pictures;
Van Helsing represents a new mythology in sci-fi by challenging traditional vampire rules. The series is unique in exploring a world completely dominated by vampires, while the human characters have to learn the importance of working together to ensure their survival.”

I wish we could have more TV series with zombies in, tbh, i think it is about time we had zombies in a televisual format.

SDCC’16: ‘Van Helsing’ Promises Blood, Vampires, and Kickass Women
Show runner, Neil LaBute, assured the audience that Van Helsing will not be like a typical vampire flick. The writers completely reimagined the mythology by mixing in different types of lore. There will be three different types of vampires in this world: the feral vampires, the vampires who use human as cattle on an industry level, and the elite vampires. And stakes won’t be the only thing Vanessa will be using to take on vampires; she’s also able to turn them back into humans by biting them. This concept is very unique to the vampire mythology and is sure to bring many twists and turns to the series.

Fans will get a special sneak peek of the pilot on July 31st after Sharknado 4 is aired. As a special treat, the episode will be commercial free so fans can enjoy the blood and gore without any breaks

After that, the series will begin its 13 episode first season on September 22nd

Made it about fifteen minutes in before fast-forwarding the rest. Didn't know it was a SyFy network show before going in, so I guess my standards weren't lowered accordingly...

Hard to believe this comes from the same Neil LaBute as the one who made In the Company of Men

Was annoyed by episode 2, as it showed payment for blood donation, which is bullsh*t
- only occurs with plasmapheresis donors in the US

The World Health Organization set the goal back in 1997 for all blood donations to come from unpaid volunteer donors (altruistic donors are the least likely to have infections that can be transmitted by blood), and in some countries it's illegal to receive any compensation for the donation of blood or other human tissues.

episode 3, nice development  so Vanessa
will turn them whether she is being bitten or she bites , not only her blood but her saliva  as she bites the doctor

her blood reacted when she was 1st bitten, left her unconscious for a few years but was awakened when she received her 2nd bite which give her fast self healing ability & immune to bite ie she no longer become unconscious instead she turns them & vice versa to whoever she bites

but she still can be kill by chopping her into half or bombing her to pieces :D

her daughter not really a true descendant of Van Helsing through the grandfather side, will she be similar to her mom despite that also will mom able to recover her ;)

episode 6, it was nice development
the sewer beasts bit Vanessa, whom the vampires were extremely frightened which could mean no one could survive the sewer beasts bit, she survived implying she likely to acquire supernatural abilities soon :D honestly she is too vulnerable to defend herself let alone her gang from the 2 groups of vampires

the doctor probably gona transform herself soon :rotfl: Vanessa gona be surprised if that contain the new blood sample from Vanessa injuries
