...Why on earth would they release this combination as a two pack?...the answer lies in the title at the top of the product details...American Werewolf in London / Van Helsing ( 1981 )

...despite the description further down the page it looks as if this is not the recent Jackman version of Van Helsing but a different 1981 version...you may wanna cancel :hiya:

The description on the DVDSOON site is as follows for the American Werewolf/Van Helsing pack states :

"Notes Cast and Filmmakers DVD-ROM Features Van Helsing (2004, 132 min.): Legendary monster hunter Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman) is summoned to mysterious Transylvania on a mission that will thrust him into a sweeping battle against the forces of darkness! With non-stop action and electrifying special effects, Van Helsing is an adrenaline-powered motion picture event Roger Ebert calls "Spectacular!" The Legend of Van Helsing Feature Commentary with Director Stephen Sommers & Editor/Producer Bob Ducsay Feature Commentary with Richard Roxburgh, Shuler Hensley & Will Kemp Theatrical Trailer Super Bowl Spot Van Helsing X-Box Game Preview Shrek 2 Preview DVD-ROM Features"

I'd think you'd find the 1981 refers to the release date of An American Werewolf In London. :hiya:

...except that this particular combination is released a full 2 weeks before the Jackman version comes out...and the price is $8 less than the new version on it's own...it is almost certainly the 'Van Helsing: London Assignment' cartooney thing...note the 'London' connection!

...but hey, it's your choice...a lot of hassle to send it back though ;) :hiya:

I think you may find that the connection between the films is werewolves, not London, especially as the DVDSoon website mentions Van Helsing being sent to Transylvania on an assignment. Also, running time of Van Helsing as mentioned in the synopsis is 134 minutes whereas the cartoon version is 60 minutes.

I liked the film in the same way that I liked XXX - it's a big dumb action movie that entertains IMHO

I'm gonna order it then give the American Werewolf movie away to a mate as I don't like that one (waits to be flamed).

    ...Werewolves/Transylvania...what's the connection then?

...as much as I find this puzzling and that the release of this double pack is a full 2 weeks before the new version is due out, you may all be pleased to hear this from DVDSoon themselves...

    "Hi,

Yes our description is correct and the version of Van Helsing will be the new 2004 one.

    Have a nice day."

...I'm getting my order in...despite my reservations :suicide: ;)

...cheers for the heads up Racquel
