well, I couldn't resist so I purchased kickboxer for 5.99 at hmv. The scenery is great and the fights are way cool - but man, van dame looks like such a geek in that movie.

Theres one scene where he is disco dancing with these 2 thai girls and the top he is wearing is sooo funny. Its kinda like a singlet with buckles on it...all I can say is wow, I wonder if he choose these clothes himself

The only people who could act in that movie were the thai extras who didn't speak english!

Van Damme's made some of the greatest martial arts films of all time.:zonked:

Well....some of the more enjoyable western efforts anyway. Kickboxer, Bloodsport, No Retreat no Surrender... the corner shop classics.
Why does it seem he's always playing twins?

Was it Double Take where Mickey Rourke was in it and they'd pencilled in a sixpack onto his fat belly with make-up?:rotfl:

Personally I can't wait for Abominable to arrive on disc. JCVD as a Park Ranger vs Bigfoot. How can a movie with that kind of story possibly be bad in any way except a good way?:D

His best film I think is Bloodsport. He had really nice looking technique's in that movie. Looked great. Except for his silk shirt and silly hair.....
His worst film I think was No Retrewat No Surrender. It is so bad and cheesy, I luaugh my socks off all the way through!
His first film is one I HAVEN'T seen. Called The Gay Karate Expert. You can guess what type of film that is.... Apparantly he does demonstrate some nice kata (group of set move's) and get's his thigh's stroked.....

I'm a big fan of time cop actually, though bloodsport does come a close second (and I'll get it when it arrives at 5.99).

In time cop he gets the pretty girl, the nice specail effects and some cool fight scenes (like the one in his appartment). Actually, he doesn't look half as geeky in that movie as the others.....

I'm particularly fond of Sudden Death, filmed when he was at the height of his coke addiction. It shows aswell.:smashin:

I've never been able to get into Time Cop or Universal Soldier, but Replicant (of his more recent works of small-screen art) was surprisingly good. The Quest wasn't too bad either.

I don't think he's likely to make another film that'll grace my local multiplex though. Not unless Tarantino "rediscovers" him in 10 years time and rescues JCVD from straight-to-video hell.

I have to say that Abominable is one of my most highly anticipated films:blush:

His first film was the classic 'breakdance' where he turns up and busts some moves (I think thats what my nephew says when he means 'dances').

he just comes out from the crowd does his stuff and leaves!!

    Oh, and Bloodsport does rock!!!

This is how you can tell if earlier JCVD films are good

1 word film title - good
2 or more word film titles - bad

He doesn't even do that, he's just lurking in the background shaking his booty, the camera cuts away and when it comes back he's gone:eek:

Astonishing onscreen time of about 2 seconds:rotfl: :smashin:
