Vaja have introduced a luxury leather case for the NW-HD5 / NW-HD5H made from high quality Argentinian leather which also offers side protection.

I wouldnt buy it because for $60 I want something that protects my MP3 player well. Though they do look very nice.

And that's my only concern. Proporta's cheap silicon condoms cover everything yet still enable access-all-areas functionality. This beautiful cover leaves things exposed - too damned risky given the less-than-perfect build quality of the HD5 ...

I think they look pretty sturdy and what with Sony charging £25.00 for their case including delivery $60.00 isn't too bad.

Nope ... so looking at this one.

SonyStyle have them in stock now but I object to paying £25.00 for one when I know others have paid £16.02.

Decided to look around and found these.

I've just noticed they were only announced on the 12th.

Quite like the name too the "Wookie".

Hey Keanos, nice find! Unfortunately, there's no way I'd pay US$60 for a case no matter how nice it is :(

Wow those are some nice looking cases - I agree though that they won't be protecting your HD5 at $60 a throw with all those cut outs - the iPod however looks like it is far more protected in it's version of the case. You know, they almost make the iPod attractive to me :)

Fair enough - but then $60 is only about £5 more than the Proporta case and to be honest, it is 10 times nicer than the Proporta version...

I must be the only person here who thinks that looks pretty nasty. Nicer than the Proporta condom though :D

Yeah I agree with Lyris, they're ugly, well, some of them have cool colours. Yellow looks ok, so does blue. But Its their shape, bulgy and thick, are they hard? At least it has a screen protector. But Id say it greatly increases the HD5's size.
Yeah the Ipod one looks heaps better.

I still recon the Sony brand leather case looks the best. (with a red hd5)

(How cheap does the backlight look by the way)

YUM! If only that Sony case protected the thing better.

It looks like it protects ok, its not like you can cover the whole thing up,, you need to see the screen, press the buttons, and access the whole top side. It does the job of protecting the 'bare skin', and allows you to clip it to a belt or something.

I couldn't help notice the Vaja's red player has a gap between the red metal and silver plastic top bit on the headphone side, at least its even though.

As for the look, well that's a matter of personal taste so each to their own.

But comparing the benefits of the Vaja case to the Sony US case pictured above:

The Vaja case is more ruggedised

    Has better quality leather

    A vast choice of colours

and protects better than the Sony by having a built in padded screen protector.

yes, i suppose it does the protecting job better, it doesn't look too bad, but its so expensive.

Like I said earlier, $60 is only about £5 - £7 more than the Proporta cases we get here in England. So if it cost 25 quid to dress your HD5 in Levi, wouldn't it make more sense to pay £5 - £7 more to have Diesel instead??

I know it is a matter of taste, but the Vaja cases do look pretty special to me... :)

The more I look at them the better they look, im sure if i saw one in real life I was be sold instantly. But really, i feel its expensive considering the tin can that its protecting. The case will be better quality than the player itself, that says something. I might buy one if the player I get it for is actually worth protecting. ;)

yeha, ok it looks good now that i try to imagine my hd5 sitting in it in real life....but i still think the pure HD5 looks awesome.

I'm considering it at the moment.

By the looks of things they are aiming very much at the top of the market.

Vaja makes really nice, high-quality leathe rcases. I have a beautiful one for my Palm Vx. They definitely look better in person, and would make the HD5 look really sharp imo.

Neither do I, although you have to wait 4-6 weeks for delivery unless you pay an extra £5.00 and buy one off Sony Style for £25.00.

If you are prepared to do that for something which will be of inferior quality then why not pay £33 or so for one of these.

    That's what I'm mulling over.
