VA or IPS - How do you know

Is there an easy way to tell if a panel is VA or IPS.

ie pushing on the screen or somethink like that

I think you can tell by viewing the screen at an off-angle. I think they each have their own look when viewed like this, such as one looks grey, but I can't remember what the difference is.

Thanks, that what I thought. The guy in Currys got it the wrong way round (Don't flame he as he was quite knowledgeable and very helpful) and was telling me the 87 series Sony 43" was a VA and I seem to remember its actually an IPS

49 inch sony XF97/85 is VA, others are IPS. Currys staff are clueless.
