V+ box, 5.1 over HDMI?

As the title says really,

Does the V+ box output 5.1 audio over
HDMI or do I need to use the optical out.

I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything that confirmed it.

Works fine with an optical connection. Not a lot of suitable material available though.

Hi mate,

The V+ Does 5.1 audio over HDMI as long as the program being watched has a 5.1 dolby digital sound track, for example Raiders of the lost Ark did, in fact quite a lot of programs on BBC HD do.

You have to set your V+ Box (in the settings) to HDMI override and thus no need for an optical cable.
