    Directed by Mario Van Peebles

    Written by Cam Cannon

    Nicolas Cage
& Cody Walker (brother of Paul) in his first major role, cast in the World War II film.

The true tale of the USS Indianapolis, famously recalled by Quint in Jaws. This is separate from the film rumoured a few years back from Warner Bros Pictures., which had Robert Downey Jr producing. That never got made. Expect this one to be a lower budget. Without a star name and a big studio attached it may get a limited US theatrical release for a few days then likely go straight to dvd/streaming sites.

Also cast are Tom Sizemore, Thomas Jane, Matt Lanter and Brian Presley

Cage is playing the role of Capt. Charles Butler McVay, whose ship was torpedoed in the South Pacific in July 1945, after delivering parts for the first atomic bombs. Their mission was classified, so the Indianapolis was not reported missing until four days later.

Cody Walker is playing one of the crewmen. Of 1,196
crewmen aboard, approximately 300 went down with the ship, while the rest faced exposure, dehydration, saltwater poisoning and shark attacks as they waited for assistance.

Only 317 sailors survived, and McVay was court-martialed, then exonerated more than half a century later.

It's all relative, and I could probably survive quite comfortably on the money he's got left, but I understand he is a bit strapped for cash. He has a habit of buying strange things, like haunted castles in the alps (isn't it?) and stuff like that.

I don't think they really showed enough of the hairstyle he's sporting for this film to be able to make an informed judgement about how good or bad it is. That's normally dictated by how wild his hair is. With him being in the navy, I'm anticipating a short military hairstyle to begin with and a fairly sedate(d) acting style to go with it. Once they've been in the water for a few days I think he'll be a bit more unkempt and we'll see the crazy come out as his mental state becomes more fractured. I feel he should fight a shark in this with his bare hands. And a young sailor should say he'll never put on a life jacket again after he's been rescued.

I see nothing in the trailer to make me want to avoid this film. It has sharks. It has Cage. It's the shark/Cage film I've been waiting my whole life for. I'm actually quite pleased for him that he's had the opportunity to make one ahead of Statham

Cage goes in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark.

    Let's hope he's an anti-shark Cage ;)
