As long as you are below £18 or so you should'nt get charged VAT.

Bought Final destination 2 £15 And Stargate Series 3 £37

Got Final thorugh post no problem, had to go pick up Stargate at Post office and to pay another £10

Post Office pays the VAT then collects the money from you.
But then they charge you another £4 to cover the costs of them paying the VAT for you

That kind of practise should be reported as the Postoffice has already got an incentive for VAT, i.e. they can claim back the VAT they charge themselves...i.e. they charge their customers 17.5% but if they run their business smart they don't pay customs and excise 17.5% much less than that due too their own purchase....So when you hear companies talk about the burden to business about collecting VAT for 'nothing' for customs and excise it is nonsense......
In addition I could not imagine that they are on a monthly accounting scheme as such they do not have to give that money back to customs for quite a while....Again when they run it properly they can actually make money of this scheme big time  It is a lot of nonsense....

Stop being so british :D Write a good letter and complain constructively, saying it is not fair is not good enough when you complain....If that doesn't help you can always go to the regulator and get some adjudication....

If you can't be bothered for such a small amount, stop moaning  :D
