some say it works well, others say it gives high resistance on long runs(?)

Well it must be better than bell wire...

Honerstly, could i get away with this in an av set up?

I'm not sure who suggests it provides high resistance on long runs, it certainly wouldn't be much different to "dedicated" speaker cable.

Loads of people use mains cable as speaker cable, just have a quick search through the Cabling forum and make up your own mind. :)

well, I used some old mains cables I found on some old irons on my technics kit (which my ex now has!) - and that worked better than the bell whistle stuff...

It's really fine, i've 4 core where i pair blue and black for - and brown and earth for +.

It does feel a bit weird to have speakers and a amp worth €3000 wired together with 60 metres of cable costing €30

Please see pic's attached of how i made it

mains cable makes really good speaker cable, as you've found out. :)

:lesson: There was a time when Golden Eared hi-fi gurus would say that, as mains cable is 'solid core' cable, as opposed to the normal strands bunched together, you may get a, clearer sound, but may find it a bit lacking in 'power' and bass... (if you are the kind of person who could tell). But even if that was/is indeed the case, with AV kit, there's the subwoofer/.1 channel :smashin:
