I am trying to work out a way that I can utilise both my Phillips DVD580M DVD Player (with suround sound speakers) and my recently purchased Phillips DVDR70 recorder. At the moment, I can only use one or the other and have to manually change the scart connection to the TV when I wish to do so.

I have tried a couple of this but neither worked. Firstly I tried to connect the speakers (the amp is situated in the sub woofer) to the DVD Recorder using a digital optical cable but the connections didn't work. Secondly, I tried using an in-line 5 way scart extension block. Whilst I could use both the DVD surround sound player and the DVD recorder, unfortuantely it was only at the same time! Both inputs came in through the same AV channel. This occoured even when I switched one of the systems off as there was still a Phillips logo 'ghosting' in the background.

    Can anyone help?
