    Hi all,
Barclaycard have a price refund clause with their cards, anybody ever took advantage of this to get a better price after buying?
Any info would be good as they are playing it pretty cautious.

I'm sure this has been mentioned previously.

What do the terms & conditions of their price refund policy state?

If I were you, I'd want something in writing before I purchase to ensure that they'll refund you the difference.

Have you actually asked them about this, if so, what was their response?

    See http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/Card_Benefits/Price_Promise/index.html

I successfully used this to price match against the cheapest internet retailer I could find after buying my 36PW9607 from John Lewis. So :smashin: for Barclaycard - I got the great service, free 5 year warranty and the cheapest price to be had.

The process for claiming is :
    - ring up and get a claim number
    - send in your original receipt, evidence of the price to be matched against (printout of a webpage in my case) and your statement where the item appears.

IIRC it only took about 3 or 4 weeks before the money was refunded to my Barclaycard.

I wonder if they claim it back from the retailer, it wouldn't surprise me. They chase you to the ends of the earth for fraud, take the money back. Credit cards are great for consumers, but retailers have no rights at all.

Thanks for the replies, it looks increasingly like i will have to go down this route.
JL want £6k for the plasma and with availability as it is they aren`t likely to pricematch (if it`s not in stock...) even if i use the reasoning that i could have purchased from several retailers cheaper.
Any other ideas/ arguements gratefully received.

    Keeping my fingers crossed

Hi all, I've used my Barclaycard to buy my Denon 3800 some time ago. I had to pay the full RRP for it because they were hard to get hold of at the time. All I had to do was tell them when and where I bought it and send them an ad for where I found it cheaper. It take a few weeks for them to sort out but you should see a refund on your next months statement. I done this with a few things since, but you have to buy it in full with your card. You can also get a free extended warranty as well (goods have to be over £50), though they won't cover camera equipment or plasma TV's

For very expensive items, just watch the small print. Firstly, there is a £1500 pa limit and secondly a £500 per item limit. I would recommend a JL pricematch to cheapest shop followed by a BC price match to bring it down to the internet price.

Don't you have to be comparing like for like when you price match? That means your alternative cheaper quote has to match John Lewis' 5yr warranty within their price. I think you'll struggle to find another retailer that offers such a warranty, never mind at a cheaper price.

Be careful you could come unstuck with this approach. Barclay card may say that your alternate supplier doesn't include the warranty so it's not the same product. If I were them and wanted to avoid shelling out some cash on your claim that's what I would do. Check it all out carefully before you commit to spending any money.

Hi all, they have a threshold value but I can't remember what it is. :suicide: That's why they wouldn't cover my plasma, the extended warranty is a different department to the price match. They will only price match and not warranty match, they only give one year extended cover. Denon give a two year warranty and with the year form Barclaycard you have a three year warranty in total. I don't know what they will do as far as JL 5 year warranty, as this is a store cover and not a manufactures cover. Hope this makes sense.

The JL 5 year warranty didn't make any difference to my price match.

Hi Squiffy, I didn't mean about the price match, I mend about giving another years warranty after JL 5 years.

THIS company is giving a free 5 years warranty, and 0% apr.

you could then do a barclay card price match if you can find it cheaper. like for like as they state the warranty is free.

I bought a 42" Panny 5 from av-sales.co.uk - who were great to me - included free shipping to the Highlands. Bought it on my tesco card so loads of points there; then did a 0% balance transfer to Capital One - which I just paid off

... leaving £2.5k in my interest bearing account till December - and of course I'm going to spend my £25 from tescos buying Christmas grog...

Just spoke to Barclaycard about pricematch and they said that because JL provide a 5yr warranty that any pricematch would have to be like for like ie also include a 5yr warranty.
    Bummer:(

yes if they bundle it in the price. say includes 5 year warranty.

but the link I posted above there 5 year warranty is FREE.

so would not need to be noted

so not a bundle they should really do a match.

buy from http://www.internettvsdirect.co.uk use there 0% deal

b card price match with nexnix

    Darren & Sunil ,
the only problem is that they don`t currently sell Pioneer or Panasonic 50" displays which rules them out for me .
    Thanks though.
