as the title says,is it ok to run 7x4 ohm speakers on a pioneer vsx-d2011 amp?
i am asking as i'm currently considering upgrading my speakers yet again and i like the look of the jamo thx d6lcr and jamo d6sur speakers and these are all 4 ohm speakers.
the amp says it accepts 8ohm speakers????
    any info would be appreciated

as far as i can remember it can cause the amp to overheat
but this is only at reference levels, and shouldnt happen if well ventilated.
if anything the amp would turn itself of if it was struggling(so it wouldn't get damaged)
pm fred123go as he had the same amp and was using 4ohm speakers
are you buying your jamos new?

do you know if the front centre would be ok mounted on a tv stand freestanding as the pj screen sits within a window frame?
also,do you reckon they'd be ok with current rear speakers until i can find some jamo rears?

well,i'm still waiting for a price for the rears but am expecting them to be around the £250 each mark.
    are the kefs good value?
just looking for a good complete set of thx speakers (set of 7) to go with me pioneer amp although i'm not interested in the mordaunt shorts.
anyway,if/when i get a definite quote i'll let you know.
    many thanks for your help.

    hey there Paul,
I had the Pioneer amp and The Mordaunt Short 500 THX package, every speaker was rated at 4 ohms, apart from the rears i think.
I was playing it at reference level throughout films and all it did was get pretty hot, no difference to sound, and was fine.
    Fred
