You know, having looked back over the past few weeks' postings, there have been frequent requests for advice on choosing a good LCD tv.

Although this forum is very popular, few users seem inclined to offer any constructive advice. Instead, what we get are pages and pages of, largely meaningless, comparisons of esoteric data that is certainly of interest those with a particular technological 'bent' - but not much use to someone who just wants a watcheable tv!

Maybe there needs to be a separate thread for such 'basic' requests. Or maybe the forum just isn't intended for those of us without a PhD in audiovisual electronics!

Oh, yes, I'm still looking for helpful advice on which 26" screen to buy!

Well, what are you looking for? Do you want it to be HDTV ready? Do you want in-built Freeview? What are you going to be using it with?

The new Sony S-Series if you want a cheaper-priced one, or if you want to go the extra mile and get a set that cleans up poor quality sources better, the more expensive V-series.

    Model #s: S: KDL-S26A12U
    V: KDL-V26A12U

This forum is full of very good advice. If your opinion of it is "useless" then maybe you should look for advice somewhere else. There is dozens of posts with very good info on 26inch lcds. If you just want a telly you can watch you should have stuck with your sonix, if however you want a top quality screen youd better start learning how to read some of these posts.

So many of the 'which is the best' questions don't want advice, they want the same 'buy this model' from every answering post. They are scared that they are going to buy a pile for the ave. £1000 it costs but can't be even bothered to read the LCD/Plasma/TV forum.

There is not a LCD design by God

There are many lovely screens these days so if you find one you like that ticks all the right buttons then trust yourself and buy it.. You can find all the info on the tech in these pages so you understand it but You have to pay the cash... :)
