Hi, I used to have a Yamaha DSPA595A but gave it to my parents for their system. This amp was amazing and suited all my needs and worked with the Mission speaker set up i have perfectly, speakers:

    ( 773E + 77DS + 77C1 + M70as )

Basically i am in the market for a new amp and haven't a clue whats out there. Would like something close to the 595 or better. Any suggestions?

Any of the Marantz range SR4300, 5300 etc are cheap at the moment and are good for movies and music, worth a listen.

why not get a DSPAX640SE ?, I used to own a 595a [great all rounder as you say], upgraded to an AX1 to save on boxes [complete waste of money BTW], and now use a 640SE for centres & rears, with a proper 2channel amp to drive my main speakers for CD listening.

HC amps just don't hack it if you are into serious CD listening IMHO,

But for under £300 the 640SE is a bargain
