Checking out a pair of used speakers later... care to give a checklist of what I should check?

    Thanks

If you mean physically then :-

    Check veneer and cabinet.
Check there's no obvious dents or crease marks in the tweeter dome, it's an obvious place for kids (and some adults) to stick their fingers.
Check for any decay or splitting on the rubber around the woofer.
If it's a sealed design check it's sealed by gently pushing the woofer in.

Probably about it for physical checks.

Visual checks just need common sense. Audio ones would be obvious too, rasping noises etc.

All my 5 surround speakers are 2nd hand. Wouldn't buy any other way apart from ex dem. Fantastic value to be had.

Check..your story for the other half........

    For example,

'Didn't realise they were that big'
    'They were VERY cheap'
'I only paid £30 for them'
    'I bought them for us'
