Would appreciate a quick look and advice as there's no threads that cover my budget I've been reasonably happy with my Videologic Digitheatre DTS, however, the centre speaker is badly underpowered and dialogue clarity suffers. As I usually turn the centre up this causes distortion and vibration - the rears also seem to have very little 'going on' though, as I've increasingly noticed. I'm certainly no audiophile (yet!), too many nights spent in nightclubs has seen to that I'm using HTPC with Theatertek and a Philips Sonic Edge 5.1 soundcard atm - looking for a set exclusively for Home Cinema use, not bothered about music. I'm thinking about getting a separate receiver and speaker system and due to my low budget of about £200 I'm likely to be looking for something second hand - I know a lot of you will be disgusted by the thought of such as system but I'm thinking with £100 amps (and a similarly priced speaker systems) that I've seen on the classifieds there are receivers that were respectable a year or two ago and must surely be ok for my purposes now? I've read this forum a few times but a lot of info is on specific models (for example, I know the Denon 3801/2 is the mutt's ) but if anyone would care to give me a bit of background on what to look for in a receiver and speakers (be it specs or whatever) I'd be interested in 'hearing'
