I just missed an Arcam CD62T Plus on Ebay (in silver) which went for £165 in the end.

As a starting point given that Arcam are as good as the reviews indicate was this a reasonable price?

If you were buying an Arcam for occasional use, only via Headphones which would you go for at the lower price end?

Is there a good place to get used models in UK?

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve

'Hi-Fi World' mag is good for used gear- lots of dealer ads in the back.

I'm running an old 170 transport and Black box 3 DAC through my new AV300 and it sounds pretty good. Both bits on ebay at the moment. I paid £175 in total for mine from a friend which seems a reasonable price form something 9-10 years old.

I had exactly the same kit and thought it good. Sorry to offer bad news but I demoed it against quite cheep kit at my dealer and it was lacking in many areas. If you have some spare cash I suggest you hear something newer.

I'm a bit wary of something over 5 years old, would prefer newer. Guess it's the usual thing of brand new XX model versus older but quality YY model.

    I'll keep on looking,

One thing to remember - CD transports don't last forever. We have 2 ten year old Alpha 5 CD players at home (both from new) and both have needed new transports (at 6 and 7 years old respectively). Once you get past Diva vintage players I guess the risk increases.

Had the 170 and DAC serviced by Arcam recently and they sorted out a minor dry joint problem in the DAC since then it has been fine. They say however that any laser problems and they have no spares. I will keep my fingers crossed as I am about to buy some new speakers.
