USB sockets on Amstrad 280 PVR3

Just got a second hand Sky+ box, as above, and it seems OK up to now:rolleyes::suicide:

I'm just wondering what are the USB sockets for on the front and rear of the box?? Can you plug flash memory devices into them ETC, there's no mention of these sockets in the Sky instructions supplied with the box.

Thanks for any advice.

There is nothing in the manual because they have no present use (except on some models where you can charge ipods and mobiles) - they were originally specified for connection to a portable media device and Pace did in fact develop one BUT this was never bought into production because of DRM rights issues so the firmware has never been upgraded to make it available and probably never will now.

Cheers for that info Dave.

Shame that these sockets cannot be used for USB flash memory or a portable HDD, would have been nice to use for photo slide shows ETC.
