USB on Shinco-based portable players

I am considering purchasing a USB-enabled Shinco or Shinco-based portable DVD/Divx player (SDP-1250, SDP-1850, etc.) I would love to have the ability to play DIVX/MP3s directly off a USB-attached hard drive.
Unfortunately, I've been utterly unable to find any information on whether such functionality is supported by the players in question. :( From what I gather, the USB jack is mainly designed for JPEG viewing and USB/memory card transfers.
Can anyone confirm whether direct video streaming off an external USB drive is supported by the Shinco/Initial/Mintek players? :lease:
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
