USB copy abort woe

I use the USB function to archive recordings to an external HD. Whilst the copy function works well I accidentally hit the OK button to STOP the copying during the long process for a 2 hour HD programme and have found that I am unable to repeat the copy process for that file and a black disc with a pink plus sign appears alongside the original file in the file manager mode. Can anyone explain why this abort corrupts the original file though oddly I can still play the programme from the Humax's own HD?

It's all down to copy protection. Broadcasters are able to set limits on the number of times a recording can be copied to other devices. Unfortunately copy once is the best we can expect and what has happened is your aborted transfer has counted as one copy attempt. As you say the playback from the original location is unaffected.
