usa hd/dvd combo question

    i got 300 dvd/hd combo..

    one side is hd..the other dvd..

    it's region 1 so the dvd side won't play on my uk xbox..
    i'm getting the hd addon next week..will i still be able to play the hd side as i think hd-dvd's are region free?

    Yeah I can confirm that HD DVD is region free unlike Blu-Ray.

    Hi There,

    HD-DVD is region free, Blu-ray is technicaly locked to one of three regions, although i don't think it is manditory as it is in the DVD standard, hence so far a lot of blu-rays also happen to be region free.

    Its kind of odd having the HD version unprotected and the standard def protected...Seems a little backwards somehow.
