Hi I was hoping that some of you kind people on this great forum could answer my query. If I were to source a Samsung DLP from the States, would this set work in the UK? What potential problems might arise?

Responses on this would be much appreciated.

You will need a PAL/NTSC converter since all TVs in North Americal are NTSC.

Although, Some DVD players have converters built in.

Power supply issue 120/220V, you will need an appropriate step-down transformer.

Warranty issues!! Remember Rear Pro DLPs are relatively new and not 100% stable. Lots of ppl have had minor issues and sometimes this has involved replacing components or even the whole TV. I doubt you will get any warranty in the UK to cover a TV bought in the US.

Another thing worth remembering is Customs. You will have to pay VAT and DUTY. This applies to cost of TV and transportation costs. As TV is quite heavy the actual transport costs are likely to be significant.

Thanks for your responses. The model I'm interested in is the Samsung Samsung HL-P5685W which is the 56in model of the SP50L7HX. Does anyone know whether this model will be available in the UK soon?
