Thought the complete opposite. There wasn’t much on its mind and in terms of being a horror film it either pulled its punches or felt borrowed.

I preferred Get Out, but I still enjoyed this

As a fan of Get Out, which got better on a subsequent viewing, I was really looking forward to this, but it was a step down from Peele's debut. Hopefully he isn't turning into M Night Shyamalan and disappearing up his own posterior.

Interesting, thought-provoking and worked on several levels (no pun intended). It managed to keep a sense of dread and foreboding throughout most of the film, but the ending was a bit silly and the final twist (no spoilers) was predictable and unnecessary. Lupita Nyong'O was terrific, but her husband's performance was a bit broad for my taste - not for a minute did I believe she would have married him.

I very much enjoyed this film but, as good as Lupita Nyong'O is, would give the best acting awards to the two children! I don't know if it's planned as the first of a trilogy, or to be expanded upon by Blumhouse's television arm for Amaflix, but it follows more the Korean and Japanese style of horror, whereby nasty things are happening but within a framework where events and actions are depicted but not necessarily explained, thus amplifying the general unease. In any event, leporiphobics should stay well away.

I want to watch this again..it's just shy of greatness. I still prefer Get Out too, but i've seen that quite a few times now whereas i've only seen this once. I agree that the male adult characters in this are a bit odd, and not in a good way. But the ideas in this and execution are so ambitious that I can't relegate it to just the 'good' categoric, but I can't call it 'great' either.

So... I take it, if I thought Get Out was just a weird mess then I should probably steer clear of this?

Difficult call, it’s not really anything like it.
I enjoyed both films, I thought the best thing about this was the soundtrack.
Don’t try and find holes in the story though, the literal sense is not really important here.

This is more ambitious than Get Out, that's for sure. Get Out was tight and self contained so i'm surprised you found it a 'weird mess'. Theres a lot more going on in US, but it's hard to say whether you'd like it or not. I'd lean more towards not.

I watched this last night and did not like it at all. How anyone could give this film over 5/10 I do not know. I loved Peele's first outing, Get Out, which is why I went to see it. But this was completely different and not a patch on that first film. The ONLY thing this film had going for it was the acting. The story I found just absurd, it's OK for a film to have a hidden meaning, but this I just found strange! it's like Peele had a bad dream one night and turned it in to a film. And a horror?! Not at all, a little gory but that's a bout it.

I'd give it 4/10, and that, as mentioned, is for the acting. And apparently my other half and I were not the only ones who didn't enjoy it, at least half a dozen people walked out within the first hour of the film....

When the initial horror/creepiness sets in it is very good but then all of a sudden it turns into stupidity and doesn't warrant the appeal of Get Out in the slightest. No spoilers but it gets very dull and you loose any interest in the characters. Peele has lost the audience on this one and it is far from his brilliant Get Out movie. Very disappointing movie and as others have said, if you look for plot holes you will find loads and no purpose to the movie whatsoever.
Had high hopes for this and a solid 2/10 and 1 point for the good acting. ;)

Saw it the night before last and absolutely loved it. Funny, creepy, tense, and the lead actress was absolutely amazing.

I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out on blu-ray.

Loved it! Watched last night and am still processing/mulling things over. It's got some great easter eggs too C.H.U.D. on the shelf for instance. I was sceptical that Peele could follow up Get Out but he only gone done it! The cinematography is lovely, especially the daytime outdoor scenes.

Lupita Nyong'o was superb too.

I agree - i loved get out but this was terrible. The beginning until the guests arrive was very good and i was expecting good things from it. However from there on in it was rubbish. I kept on laughing but not at the humor but at how bad it was. There was another couple of people behind me who kept laughing and again it was not at the humor.

Seems its a bit like marmite this movie.

I watched the trailer and my first concern was it was going to get too silly. So some of the comments saying similar is concerning to me.
I found Get Out to be quite average, over rated in my opinion. It was watchable and I am glad I saw it, but I don't think it deserved the hype it got.

This might be a DVD release for me, I love a good horror, or even just a twisted movie, which this seems, but when movies go a bit too OTT or get silly then it really ruins the movie for me.
