Just watching the golf in luvely SD :(

It is always noticable how very average the picture quality is on the US golf.

How is it on HD? Is it being broadcast in HD or is sky doing the upconversion?

What makes you believe it's being shown in HD?? It's not even on one of the Sky HD Sports channels (not that it would have been in HD if it were on one of the HD channels). You want HD golf, wait until the Ryder Cup.

BTW, the reason the US golf is so poor is partly due to NTSC, the US SD standard which isn't as good as PAL.

Could have sworn I saw it on one of the HD listings. Could be wrong..old age and all that.

Whilst it was being aired on Skysports 2 HD (which is only a mirror of Sky sports 2) It was not being filmed in HD. It is only an upconverted SD pic and as Sparky said from an NTSC scource.
It should look marginally better on HD than SD but will still not look as good as HD mastered content.
Wait for the Ryder Cup which will be filmed using HD cameras.
