anyone tell me the pro's ans con's of getting a us gamecube?
ive been told that because ive not got a 60hz tv that us games will only run in black and white. true?
or will getting a freeloader sort all this out.
ive found a uk site selling these things for £29 delivered so its a decent price as long as all works ok.

    cheers

    :)

I have a US/Jap cube and when using the freeloader it plays in Black and white when trying to play UK games (fine on US games) (50/60hz TV). Mrs Buzz has a UK cube and when using Freeloader on her display (50hz only) it plays in Black and white, but was ok when on a tv supporting 60hz. Not sure if this helps you in anyway but confirms you need 60hz to play US games. For £30 its not the end of the world if it dont work

no, but i dont really fancy playing games in black and white though, id rather just get hold of a uk cube instead.
im a bit confused though about what your actually saying.
my tv supports pal60, but not ntsc playback. will the us cube still work fine through pal60?

So care to share where they are selling for £29 ?

Problem I think it that the GC does not do RGB (though custom cables which frigged it could be bought)

I used to run my PS way back in the day on a tv which took PAL60 and would play in colour from my jpn ps via a RGB cable. So it you had a US Gc + the RGB cable it should work.. but the cables cost about £50 as they are butchered Component cables. The standard UK rgb cables for the GC will not work..

Hope that clears it up :)

As far as I am aware the US Gamecube will only output a NTSC60hz signal, after all its a US model so there is no reason for it to do PAL. The UK Gamecube will output both PAL50hz for UK games and PAL60hz for the games that have the 60hz option. If you use Freeloader to play US games on a UK gamecube they will be output as PAL60hz.

The Freeloader itself doesnt do anything to the video signal, it just allows you to play games from other regions on any region Gamecube, nothing more so if you get a US gamecube you will have to have a TV that can handle an NTSC60hz signal otherwise all you will get is a black and white picture on all games you play whether they are US or UK.
