i have a quality svideo cable and my Tosh MT1 takes an svideo connect i would like to output a tv signal from my video( yellow phono) or my cable box (scart) to my projector so i can watch
england brazil on the big screen.

    1. Is this possible via an svideo cable i.e. how and what connectors do i need

2.Should i just go and buy a 10 metre phono lead which i would rather not do

    please help Cheers

pretty sure you'll need to do this in composite ....

ie... a scart to a phono..

unless your cable box or video does svideo then you can't
just plug an svideo to scart cable in.

A bog standard £2 phono cable will do the job - albeit not very well. Do you have a video with s-vhs out? That would be the best way to connect to your pj - if it works (I've got tv via a scart so worth trying s-vhs!). A scart - s-vhs convertor would be the best option from your cable box - but if you're looking at a really low budget approach this is perhaps not an option.

If you already have a pj why haven't you considered b4 connecting it up to a TV input? Was the second thing I tried after getting DVD sorted!

I use a scart adapter that is scart plug with an input/output switch on it and then has audio l/r phono's composite phono and svideo socket.

I then use a svideo lead from this to my receiver.
I use the composite to a giga video sender so the wife can watch cable on her pc upstairs.

Used the giga sender on the pj and was pretty damn good ;)

Still waiting for cables for me pj which is why I tried the giga sender.

thanks for the imput I think i will go the direct phono route as it
is simple cheap and is guaranteed to work.
My PJ is hooked up to my HTPC and to be honest i only ever watch dvds through it, but the chance to watch world cup footy has inspired me!!!

A bit late for tommorows game, but an absolute must if England progress, has to be the acquisition of a TV card for your HCPC. Get DScaler and Bob's your Uncle, one smart image on your PJ!
