Hi. I've played around with service menu, and...picture quality just got horrible. (Looks like a brockken TV.) convergence.....color, geometry..everything. the TV is SONY KP-44 PS2 RPTV. Is there anyway I can reset to factory default ??? If I can get the setup values from the owner of this same TV, I think I can fix it. Please help.
As understand it each tv is setup as it leaves the factory. Somebody may be able to give their setup but you will still have to play around with it. Sorry I can't help more.
Thanks for the reply, dochall. Anyone else ?? If someone can give me their setup values, I'll definatly pay for it. I'm desperate. Please help.
I don't understand this.. I wrote a reply to this a few hours ago, but its not there.. I am also sure that started a new thread yesturday.. I think that the new Forum has problems!! Did you enter any 'TT' codes? If you have, it could be REALLY bad news. I am 90% sure that there is no memory where the TV has a copy of the factory settings.. Default settings are all you are going to get! I know that you won't want to hear this, but if anyone is tempted to go into the service menu, write EVERY setting down first.. Whilst you won't be able to use anyone elses settings, as they are unique to the TV, I recently had my 36" CRT TV replaced and was surprised how few settings had changed between the new and old model. Most settings which had changed, were only slightly different anyway. So, why not ask Two (or more) owners of the TV to supply you with their settings. Atleast it will give you somewhere to start. If you can get 2 (or more settings) you will be able to see which settings are the same on both TVs and which ones are different. The ones which are different on both TVs you can make a guess at and tweak until you get it right. Saying that, I would guess that the settings on a RPTV would be more unique than a CRT model, so this might not help you much.. But its worth trying. Good luck.. I hope you get it sorted.
Thanks for the input, Jon Weaver. In the service menu, Device Register Setting --> Deflection That's where I got screwed up. I reseted the deflection section. And the picture went mad. So, I think, I sort of reseted most of the section. I shouldn't got into this darn service menu. I really, really regret it. I only wrote down values in Special Adjustment section. Here are the parameters in the Deflection. If any owner of KP-44PS2 can put the number and according values, I would be very much greatful. (just numbers.) --"Deflection" Section.-- 1. V - Size 2. V - Position 3. V - Comp 4. V - Linear 5. S - Corr 6. H - Size 7. Ew - Dc 8. Pin - Amp 9. Up - CPin 10. M - Pin 11. Lo - CPin 12. Trapezium 13. H - Position 14. AFC - Bow 15. AFC - Angle 16. Up - Vlin 17. Lo - Vlin 18. MPIP PAmp 19. MPIP UCPin 20. MPIP LCPin 21. MPIP Trap 22. EPG PAmp 23. EPG UCPin 24. EPG LCPin 25. EPG Trap Thank you.
Hello. If this RPTV goes to SONY SERVICE CENTRE, can the engineers find out if someone has accessed the service menu ??
The engineers would know because all the settings would be at default values. It should not require returning to a service center, as it really only requires menu adjustments that they can obtain - a service call would be better. I would come clean and just tell them. Try going to your local Sony dealer and asking them if they can obtain the settings for you, its worth a try. I'm sure they would not want to lose your custom in the future. They must have records of people in your area who have RP's like yours because they have to keep records of Tv's sold for TV licenses' purposes. You may be able to obtain a name of a local person from them, with the same model (maybe). Not going to solve your problem but I too recently had this problem (so your not the only one) and it is very frightening. Luckily I had been in the service menu a couple of years ago and had written down the settings, or most of them. For future reference you might want to look at these sites I came across while I was trying to find a remedy, they make interesting reading. http://204.143.86.12/repairfaq/REPAIR/F_Repair.html http://members.accessus.net/~090/awh/sonypal.html Sorry I cant do much to help you.
Thanks very much Thor. You've been a great help for me. Thanks again for the info. I did try...."ALL WEEKEND" to fix the TV, and I fixed about 80%. (I mean....all................... weekend. ) Geometry & convergence on either sides are still bit out...but...what a improvement ! If I know the values......it would be a lot better. Anyone owns this KP44PS2 ?
