Im told that if I buy a DVD recorder feed my SKY in and take the output back into my Plasma and projector upscaled to 720p. Is that true as it would really give me a much cleaner SKY?

Depends how good the scaling and de-interlacing hardware is the DVD recorder (It actually has such a thing?). I know there are a few DVD players which are incorporating suitable hardware but not seen them in the flesh or read a real in depth review on them either.
I can honestly say a PC scaler/de-interlacer or standalone video processor certainly makes a very noticable improvment.

i am not sure if DVD recorder can upscale. But I am quite sure the top of the range DENON DVD player the 3910 does not do that.

My sony hx900 dvd recorder does this and i can honestly
say it looks amazing. It will push out a 525P signal
that can be viewed.Looks even better than my JS tech
scart to vga adapter on my panny 6 series plasma.

It will even push to 625p but this is not intended for any
live viewing external source, but there is a way around that and thats to use the chasing playback function on the hdd, after a slight delay its possible to watch in 625p mode.

Even in 525p mode the difference it makes to the picture
is incredible.Sky just looks so chrisp, smooth and
looks exciting to watch, its like everything on the screen
has more depth, the picture leaps out instead of looking so flat via any other connection. It does a good job of masking poor bit-rate broadcasts still to common on sky and makes them watchable on a huge screen.

Its even good for consoles,my dreamcast never looked
so good!.PS2 and xbox also look great.

I think your confusing a progressive scan signal, (480p ntsc/ 525p pal), with upscaling to a hi-def signal od either 720p or 1080i. As far as I'm aware, no dvd recorder will scale up to these formats. Though there are dvd players such as the Denon's that offer a 720p/1080i output. Remember that lcd/plasma tv's with 1280/720, 1366/768 etc resolutions will already scale sd Sky pictures to fit.

The Panasonic E55 model has progressive scan & component outputs. I don't know whether you can input the Sky signal and get progressive scan output. I'd like to know.

Otherwise you might consider a PV200
