Just wondered if any of you guys use UPS ( Uninteruptable Power Supplies ) to safeguard against power cuts or do you Just risk it, is it that much of a problem once in a while if your PJ does suddenly go off.

You dont need UPS, thats for keeping computer servers ETC going so a network can continue working during power failure or be shut down without the loss of data.
Get yourself some decent surge protection, that should do.
Although dont hold me responsible if anything does go wrong!!

if you can find a cheap one i think it would work quite well, all it would allow you to do is manually shut down as soon as a powercut hits and thus the bulb does not cool too fast and perhaps damage it....

I have a 500 VA UPS on one of my PCs. It works fine if the power trips out.
However the same unit did not stop a Plus Piano from shutting down immediately when the power tripped out.
Can't speak for other UPS units or other PJs as I have not tried the same test with other gear.

I have got an ISOTEK Mini Substation,it was recommended by a friend who is an installer while i was building my home cinema.
Though a bit pricey at £500 you can connect up to six AV equipments including your PJ to the Substation.
