Today I bought the Philips DVDR16ST Dual format Double Layer DVD ReWriter (Phew!) which came witha video converter and converter software. So I can basically connect my VCR up to the PC and convery my video cassettes into DVDs.

But I was wondering whether I can use this to upload the video to my hard drive and then use some editing software first before burning the DVD. When I access the software I have to burn to the DVD straight away.

Also, I do not have a DV camcorder, I have an 8mm one and the converter doesn't want to let me record the video data from the cassettes.

    Any help? Thanks.
