    Hi there
I am looking to upgrade to a new amp. I have come down to 3 choices which I find difficult
Pioneer VSX D812, Marantz SR5400, Also Denon 1804

price wise are about the same,
Denon doesnt have DTS 96/24 processing
so that leaves the Pioneer and the marantz, if anyone knows anything about this 3 amps it would be appreciated
    Thank you in advance
    Gerry

I have a Denon 1804 and a Marantz 5300. The Marantz audio is a bit laid back while the Denon 1804 is a bit warm and more accurate. The Denon is a bit better on HT.

Also, I have noticed that the Marantz operates hotter than the Denon playing at same sound level.

Overall I like my Denon better, HT and music, though the Marantz is not far behind.

What speakers would you be using? Listen to these receivers before you buy them, listening to the receivers with the speaker of your choice would help you a lot in making your decision.
