I just bought a Sharp LC30HV4E LCD and am not too impressed with it. Picture is ok, but looks pretty "digital" and fake compared to my old Sony 32" WEGA. Screen is also a bit small. Seems to me that LCD in general doesn't have as good a picture as a decent plasma.

Have the option of taking it back to the store and upgrading to a Hitachi 42PD5200 plasma instead.

    Any thoughts on the Hitachi?

Better than the lcd but still not as good as a top end crt IMHO.
I have a Hitachi 37" and I'm rather peed off with it's solarisation problems with any panning/moving objects. For still frames it's close to perfect :-(
