    Hi all,

Im looking upgrade the standard 5.1 Onkyo speakers that came with the HT-R380 with Boston Acoustic Soundware xs speakers. Will they be noticeably better than the current stock 5.1 onkyo speakers? Also im guessing im going to have problems with the passive sub connection on the amp and the soundware having an active sub?

    Thanks for any advice!

Your right you will have problems with your sub ! An option could be to keep your sub and surround speakers and upgrade the front 3 speakers ! Personally is go for atleast bookshelf speakers or floorstanders with the matching centre. The floorstanders will certainly help out with bass which with your passive sub maybe ideal !

Thanks for that, I guess the reason I wanted to upgrade is to mount the speakers up in the corners of the room? I know your supposed to have the front three directly in front - just trying to have a 'cleaner' look so floorstanders are a no-no lol.

In that case im not sure but subs some times have high level inputs. You could check the Boston acoustics sub to see it has them. You may then be able to use that speaker set, how does your current sub connect up ? Is it speaker wires ( two wires positive and negative) ?
