Has anyone successfully upgraded the hard disk in any newer Panasonic DVR, e.g. DMR-EH50, to a bigger one? If so, how was it done?

    Thank you.

The EH50 & EH60D had a different firmware built into the harddrives & wouldn't accept a standard "PC" type replacement

This is how I understand things.

Earlier models EH85 and EH95 had the size of the hard drive locked in the system firmware. So a standard HDD could be fitted but it would only use up to the size originally designed with.

Newer machines such as the EX75 and EX85 had firmware flashed into the hard drive. This can be done with a installation CD of the firmware. Which is used by Panasonic service depts to replace faulty hard drives. Hard drive size is still limited to original design spec.
