The AV32R DP and AV192R both had PSU upgrades compared to the AV32R SP. The 32DP uses low loss rectifiers on the v3.3 rail to cope with the extra load introduced by the extra DSP card. It also has extra heatsinks on the regulators and larger vents on the top lid.

Is that really you?
Was truly saddened to hear of the demise of Tag McLaren Audio. You created a great range of products, and I hope that IAG will do them justice. Still planning on getting an AV32R-DP for home at some point.
Hope you are enjoying life in Portugal. I know that you never truly relax - what are you up to now?

The power supply mods are primarily there to cope with the extra electronics in the box. More bits = increased power requirements from transformer, rectifiers, regulators etc. = more heat generated!
The key measureable things that you'll find on the 32DP and 192R that improve sound quality are the 192K DAC's as standard, superior DSP processing in all areas (most filter calculations at 80bit precision and better intermediate and output dithers) and once set up properly the TMREQ room equalisation.
All I suggest is don't worry about all the trickery that goes on inside the box, just sit back and enjoy the music!

Hi Miron, I made a copy of most files which were available for download - I was somehow expecting that I might one day need one of these files as I continously used www.tagmclaren.com as my reference library.

Thankyou Steve/Udo.
The reason I was asking is because I have perfect mains power and was wondering if there was still any benefit to the changes.

Hi Simon, even if you have a perfect mains supply (well done!) these modifications will affect the sound quality as they improve the stability of the low voltage power rails. These changes have in actual fact little to do with the AC mains side, as they deal with the voltage stability affected by power consumption - high speed digital circuitry is very demanding in this respect.
Sound quality clearly improves from AV32R SP via AV32R DP to AV192 due to better stabilised low voltage rails/ground structure but, let's not forget, in addition AV32R DP and AV192R use improved signal processing algorithms which add significantly to the hardware based sound quality improvements.

In your opinion, would there be any benefit in applying similar mods in the power supply of the DVD32r?
