    Hi guys,

I've just upgraded my phone with EE. I will likely be selling the phone, and wondered if anyone can tell me whether it will be unlocked?

I have read conflicting info on Google. It is stated somewhere that contract phones cant be unlocked for 6 months, but then I read on to say they scrapped this last year.

So looking for up to date info please guys if you can help.

    cheers.

You need to contact EE and ask them to send an unlock request to Apple. When you get confirmation this has been done you connect the phone to iTunes and it unlocks the phone. I believe EE charge a fee for this (cheeky bleeders).

Really? Its not an iPhone. Why should Apple have anything to do with it?

Wondering if I may be better just advertising it as Locked to EE.

I guess the "Apple" thing was a wholly wrong assumption. You're right - they have nothing to do with it if it isn't an iAnything.

The easiest way to find out is to get a friend who has a service with another provider and try their SIM.

GENERALLY contract phones sourced from the Network are locked. However non-Apple phones sourced from Carphone Warehouse typically are NOT locked.

EE will be locked and branded. You have to request it to be unlocked, but can't do it straight away

Sorry! For some unknown reason I thought you mentioned iPhone in your original post.
