Anyone can help with these questions please.
After 3 years with my old Sherwood 6106R receiver, I think I am ready for an upgrade. My choices are Pioneer VSX D812, also Marantz SR5400, and Yamaha DSPAX640 SE. As you can see the choice is not easy for me, if anyone has any idea on what would be the best one and any others please let me know.
    Thank you.
    Gerry

Which is best is entirely subjective, and you should try to get a demonstration of all three at your nearest dealer and make your own mind up (listen to your ears and all :D).

My recommendation would be dependent upon which speakers you're going to use the amp with. If they're extremely easy to drive I'd opt for the Pioneer, if they're pretty difficult in load I'd opt for the Marantz/Yamaha.

It's a Tonal nightmare, but it sounds as though you essentially have a descent setup, which shouldn't be a nightmare to drive.

The Pioneer gets my recommendation :).
