Im wanting to upgrade my ageing Pioneer 636D, but realy dont know what machines I should be looking at.

Ive around £250 ish (maybe more if its reallyyyy worth it), it needs to be multiregion, and RCE compatible and have the usual digital outputs, S-video/RGB and maybe component (YUV). I dont need onboard sound decoders, just great picture and sound, oh and silver/Titanium finish would be nice lol

Its to be used in conjuction with:

    Yammy AX750se
    JVC InteriArt 36" LCD

What are your thoughts on particular machines?

    Thanks a bunch.

    Phil

Thankyou for the reply, does anyone else have any machines I should consider in the £250-£300 range?

    Hi

Like you I am also hopping to spend about £300 on a DVD player.
Although the Pioneer 575 sounds an excellent player for the money, I wanted something with a better sound. Its NOT needed for CD reply but surround sound is top priority. I wish I had bought the Denon 2200 for £299 from Superhifi but they have sold out.

Onkyo’s new £299.95 DV-SP502E DVD-Audio/SACD player sounds promising but there seems to be little information on the player at the moment.

Choosing players to audition is a minefield. The market is saturated with sub £200 players but Im struggling to find a player that goes that extra mile in the SQ/PQ stakes in the £300 bracket.
